Movement
In our lives, we can be:
Moving
- out
- In
- On
- Up
- Over
- Down
No matter what part of our life we are experiencing or where and how we are, one thing is consistent – we are always moving.
My daily life has largely inspired this collection.
Moving to Australia was a big inspiration – adjusting to the language, trying to move forward, and keeping learning.
Having kids has had a huge impact and ‘movement on my life; my boy is turning 3 in September and my daughter is 8 months – we always have to adjust and find a balance.
Demonstrating this in my collection was done through ensuring the bold and vivid colours along with cool pastels in various gradients, contrasts and placement, deliver and enhance movement and texture in the cut.
Perfectly complementing each other to elicit a sense of fluidity, whether it’s a forward movement, being swept backwards or purely standing still being present in the moment, motion is always present.
Hairstyling was designed to highlight a variety of techniques – braiding, basket-weaving, sewing and texturised longer and shorter lengths – all showcasing the ebbs and flows of everyday life, and the curiosity and excitement they can deliver.

CAPTIVANCE
CAPTIVANCE BIGOUDEE CAPTIVANCE BIGOUDEE CAPTIVANCE BIGOUDEE CAPTIVANCE BIGOUDEE
It is a word that has been forgotten about just like pandemics were relegated to footnotes in history books.
By bringing this word back, we wanted to express the feelings of angst and abandonment we felt during the past few years. Captivance is as much a reflection of the burdens placed onto us by public health orders as it is to the constraints we had forgotten about thanks to better than ever communication and air travel.
Being able to experience the little things together, whether they are good or bad is what makes life special. Experiencing life through a screen has shown that nothing compares to a warm embrace at an airport or being able to share a meal with those we love.
Captivance also reminded us of the struggles that people will continue to experience after restrictions are lifted and life goes back to “normal”. We may have been captive but not blind, and we wish to do more about issues that affect us such as women’s rights, the dignity of minorities and animal rights.
